The Language Acquisition Lab is a research lab in the Spanish, Italian, and Portuguese Department at Penn State University. We investigate language development in children and language use in their caregivers. We are particularly interested in how children acquire sociolinguistic variation, and how variation in the input impacts children's acquisition of morphosyntax. We carry out experimental studies using a variety of methods (e.g. Act out Tasks, Elicitation Tasks, Picture Matching, Eye tracking) and we also are building a large speech corpora of child-caregiver conversations.
